In an interview, there’s a fine line between being honest and being overly negative about previous employers.
The interviewer knows you’re looking for a new role for a reason.
Maybe…
– The territory became impossible to cover effectively.
– The commission structure changed.
– There was little opportunity for progression.
– You wanted to represent stronger products.
– You felt unsupported by your manager.
These are all perfectly valid reasons.
Just avoid criticising your current or previous employer.
Instead, focus on what you’re moving towards, rather than what you’re moving away from.
Honesty delivered professionally, will always beat a rehearsed answer.
